Trustee
Richard White
(He/Him)
Richard has been a strong supporter of BlueAssist before taking the leap to being a Trustee. His reasons for becoming Trustee are, in his own words, this:
If you were to ask me why I am a motivated to be a trustee of Blue Assist UK, then I will explain by admitting one of my weaknesses. I am a very poor linguist and when I go abroad, I am dependant, to my embarrassment, on the locals speaking English. If that is not the case, then communication is an exercise in frustration for both parties. Imagine if that was you own language, in England and every day, that you had such a challenge with?
In seeking to help those, who for whatever reason cannot verbally communicate we can make life so much more pleasant and at such little cost.
Trustee
Edward Sanjana
(He/Him)
Edward studied at the Skinners’ School, Tunbridge Wells, and read linguistics at the University of Cambridge. He currently works as a freelance translator in Hove, specialising in patents and other legal and technical documents in various European languages. He has also marked and moderated entry examinations for the Institute of Translation and Interpreting, the UK’s professional membership association for the industry.
Edward has assisted a number of times in representing Blue Assist at the Naidex disabilities exposition in Birmingham. In his spare time, he is a keen classical musician, playing the violin and other instruments as well as writing his own compositions. He also enjoys swimming, reading and tabletop gaming.
